back to listAdmitted to the bar in the US and qualified as a solicitor in the UK, Niamh’s practice focuses on providing content/ compliance advice to production company clients. In this connection, she advises on defamation, copyright and trademark, rights of privacy and publicity, First Amendment matters, and all other potential legal issues relevant to the production and broadcast of films and television programs. She enjoys helping to find practical solutions that work from both a creative and a legal perspective, and has particular expertise in relation to documentary/ factual content.
Niamh regularly attends industry conferences and markets, including Cannes, Berlin, TIFF, HotDocs and MIPCOM. She has been a speaker or panelist at many such festivals, as well as a guest lecturer for various third-level institutions (teaching both film students and law students). She also sits on the board of a professional theatre company.
Niamh holds an undergraduate degree in Law with French (First Class Honours) and a master’s degree in Innovation Technology and the Law (Distinction). She joined SmithDehn in 2015 and was made a partner in the firm in 2022.
